AAdvantage Brings Back Short-Hop Awards

American Airlines has brought back its short-hop MileSAAver awards, allowing AAdvantage members to fly roundtrip on nonstop routes under 750 air miles one way for 15,000 miles when booking travel on the AA.com Web site. Economy-class roundtrip awards are available for 15,000 miles, a 10,000-mile savings. First or business-class roundtrip awards are available for 30,000 miles, a savings of 15,000 miles. Short-hop MileSAAver awards are available for travel from Sept. 1 through Feb. 28, 2007.

Note: Let’s applaud AAdvantage for not messing with the math of these short-haul rewards. When United reintroduced their short-haul rewards, you might remember that they messed with the math and now only have “700” mile short-haul rewards, obviously finding out that they were giving their members too much value since 750-miles added too many valuable business travel routes to the redemption opportunities. Heaven forbid that Mileage Plus left something untouched…
