Alliances like SkyTeam and Star Alliance operate several of their own lounges across the global. For example, SkyTeam has lounges in Vancouver, Santiago and Dubai. And Star Alliance also has lounges in Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Rome. Oneworld is an odd one out, as the alliance did not have its own airport lounges until recently. This changed with the recent opening of the first oneworld lounge at Seoul-Incheon airport. Check the article for an impression of what the lounge looks like.
First oneworld lounge at Seoul-Inchen
Oneworld may be late to the party with offering their own lounge product, but the first impressions of the new lounge in Seoul are certainly good. Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN) has a first with this brand new oneworld lounge. The lounge measures 555 m2/5,975 sq.ft. and offers seating for up to 148 guests.
The first oneworld lounge offers a buffet with both hot and cold dishes. And in addition to a full bar, there is also a separate coffee bar. Guests can also use the showers to freshen up before their next flight. There are meeting rooms and separate areas where you can make calls or work with more privacy.
In terms of design, the lounge resembles a mix of the Privium Lounges at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the new Salon Air France lounges at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Location, opening hours and access
The new lounge is located in Terminal 1, near Gate 28 on the 4th floor of Seoul-Incheon. Daily opening hours are from 7:30 AM to 11:45 PM. Be mindful that on Mondays and Sundays the lounge closes already at 4:30 PM.
Conveniently, the gate where any oneworld flight departs is never more than a 10-minute walk from the lounge. There are currently 7 oneworld carriers flying from ICN: American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways and SriLankan Airlines. Together they operate more than 60 weekly flights from Seoul-Incheon.
Of course this new lounge also has some specific requirements to get (free) access. Business and First Class passengers get free lounge access when departing from or transferring through Seoul-Incheon Airport. In addition, oneworld Emerald and Sapphire participants can also receive free access.
All details on how to get access to this lounge (and any exceptions) can be found on the oneworld website.
