How to Earn a Few More United Miles from Your Marriott Stays

Cashback (or “miles” back) is one of the best ways to earn a small rebate when booking hotel stays. Marriott is one of the major hotel chains that is usually available on a wide range of cashback websites, as well as a few airline shopping portals such as United’s and American’s. Although cashback usually offers a higher return – especially since cash has far more possible uses than airline miles – you might prefer to continue adding to your mileage balance.

For United miles, the standard earning ratio is 1 mile per US dollar spent…

But if you would like to earn a little bit more, you might want to check out United’s “other” shopping portal.

For whatever reason, the UK version gives you a better deal…

£1 is worth roughly $1.40.  So you’d be earning 1 mile per $0.70 spent, or 42% more miles when compared to the US shopping portal.

There is a major proviso, however. This increased level of “miles” back is only available at Marriott hotels outside of the US & Canada.

However, there is absolutely nothing stopping a US resident from using the UK shopping portal and earning 2 miles per £1. So, if you are keen to earn United miles when booking Marriott stays, then you might want to check it out…
