American Airlines and Cadillac have teamed up to offer 7,500 AAdvantage miles for those who test drive a Cadillac. AAdvantage members must call a service desk and register a time to test drive a Cadillac at a nearby dealership to get the bonus miles. (Full information about this offer was not available at this writing.)
In addition, Cadillacs will be used to transfer American’s best customers between gates whenever they have tight connections. The free Cadillac rides are available at Los Angeles for ConciergeKey members (invitation only membership) and will be expanded to airports in Dallas, Miami and New York by the end of this year, pending local airport approval. Travelers will also get a chance to see the latest Cadillac vehicles at select airports.
Bottom line: American is following the lead of other carriers who use luxury vehicles to transfer elite passengers between gates. Delta has teamed with Porsche to offer SkyMiles Diamond Medallion members a free transfer between gates at Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Minneapolis and Atlanta and United has teamed with Mercedes-Benz for their Global Services members and United Global First passengers in Chicago, Houston, Newark and San Francisco.
