American Airlines recently changed their policy noting that the airline will soon no longer “through check” bags to the customer’s final destination when the customer presents separate tickets at airport check-in, except for when the separate ticket is for travel on American Airlines and American Eagle, US Airways and US Express or a oneworld partner airline. For all other carriers ticketed separately, baggage will only be checked for the AA, US or oneworld partner flight and passengers need to recheck their bags with the other carrier for the continuing travel. This change will come into effect on Feb. 1, 2015.
