Starwood Preferred Guest is offering members double Starpoints for stays at more than 1,000 participating hotels through July 31, 2014, and triple points for stays that include a Sunday (Saturday at hotels in the Middle East).

You must register for the promotion by June 30, 2014, and all stays at participating properties between May 1 and July 31, 2014, will get bonus points. When you earn double points, you’ll earn a total of four points per dollar, and triple points stays will earn six points per dollar. There is no limit to the number of points you can earn during the promotion and the offer is eligible with other bonus points offers; however, each offer is independent of the others and is not combinable. Free night awards, including Cash & Points awards, do not qualify for this promotion. Even if part of your hotel stay is outside the promotion period, as long as one night of your stay is within the promotion period, you’ll get the bonus points on every night of the entire stay.

Bottom line: The Earn Away, Get Away is a good offer, especially with the amount of time members have to earn unlimited bonus points, and we like how even one night stayed within the promotion period qualifies your entire stay to earn the bonus points. What’s not so good news for members are the hotels that have opted out of the promotion, including eight hotels in New York City, eight in Chicago, six in London and six in the Seattle area. But most SPG hotels are taking part.
