Qantas Frequent Flyer is increasing by 25 percent the number of points members will need to upgrade from discount economy seats to business class on domestic flights starting Jan. 14, 2014. Points required to upgrade for flights up to 600 miles will now be 10,000 (up from 8,000 points); for flights between 601 and 1,200 miles the redemption amount will be 15,000 (up from 12,000 points); for flights between 1,201 and 2,400 miles the redemption will be 20,000 (up from 16,000 points) and for flights between 2,401 and 3,600 miles the redemption will be 30,000 points (up from 24,000 points). Discount economy tickets include Red e-Deal fares, Qantas Any Seat Awards booked in X class and group fares booked in G class.
Upgrades from economy fares including fully flexible and Flexi Saver, will remain at the current levels, between 5,000 and 15,000 miles according to flight distance.
