Air Canada has increased the number of Altitude qualifying miles members earn on some fares, introduced upgrade co-pays for most elite members and modified its eUpgrade Nominees policy. Members now earn 25 percent Altitude qualifying miles on Tango flights within Canada. Previously, members did not earn any Altitude qualifying miles on these routes. Earning increased to 125 percent from 100 percent Altitude qualifying miles on Latitude and Premium Economy fares and Executive Lowest fares now earn 150 percent instead of 125 percent Altitude qualifying miles.

Effective March 2014, Air Canada is also introducing eUpgrade Add-ons, otherwise known as co-pays, when elite members use eUpgrade Credits to upgrade from Flex fares on overseas international flights. Altitude Super Elite 100K members are exempt and do not need to pay the co-pay to upgrade from Flex fares and the co-pays are not required when upgrading from Latitude fares. Co-pays are required for all other elite members traveling on Flex fares. The co-pay for travel between Canada and Europe, the Middle East and South America is $500 and the fee is $750 for travel between Canada and Asia or Australia.

The eUpgrade Travel Companion benefit will replace the eUpgrade Nominee policy for Altitude Elite 75K, Elite 50K and Elite 35K members. Instead of designating a list of people eligible for eUpgrade privileges, Altitude members will be able to upgrade any one traveling companion on the day of departure, even if they are not on the same reservation, as long as they are on the same flight. Altitude Super Elite 100K members will retain the two eUpgrade Nominee privilege, in addition to receiving the eUpgrade Travel Companion benefit. Super Elite 100K members will no longer be able to use eUpgrades on Aeroplan ClassicFlight Rewards when these changes go into effect in March 2014.
