Alaska Airlines has announced it will be hiking flight change fees and checked bag fees for flights purchased on or after Oct. 30, 2013. Checked bag fees will be increasing $5 to $25 for a first or second checked bag. A third checked bag will be $75 (from $20) and four or more bags will be $75 per bag (from $50).

Ticket change fees for revenue and award tickets will also be going up on Oct. 30. The new fee to change a flight will be $125 and will replace the $75 fee for tickets booked online and $100 for reservations made by phone. Change fees are waived for Mileage Plan MVP Gold or 75K members and those traveling in first class on paid fares (not award tickets). Also, there is no fee to make changes at least 60 days prior to departure. If you wait until less than 60 days prior to make a change, the fee will be $125 when the new change fees go into effect for flights purchased after Oct. 30. Award flight fees are not changing.
