Southwest Rapid Rewards has added a new benefit for A-List and A-List Preferred elite members. While elite members normally receive an A boarding pass, there are situations where they may check-in within 24 hours of travel and end up with a B or C boarding pass. Purchasing or changing a ticket on the day of travel after most passengers have already checked in means they might be stuck boarding the plane last and finding only middle seats in the back of the plane available. Now, elite members are guaranteed a better seat. The gate agent will now invite A-List members to board the plane after the A31 – A60 boarding group has boarded.
Bottom line: The new elite policy is an improvement and guarantees a window or aisle seat for A-List members, regardless of their boarding pass.
