Ritz-Carlton Rewards has published the list of Ritz-Carlton properties moving categories and only one of the hotels will be moving down a category. The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa will be reclassified as a Category 1 hotel from Category 2. When the changes go into effect May 16, 2013, 23 of the 78 Ritz-Carlton hotels worldwide will require more points, which is 30 percent of properties. All of the properties moving up a category will be jumping one category, which represents an increase of 10,000 points. A few of the hotels moving up from a Category 1 to Category 2 include Ritz-Carlton hotels in Phoenix, Dallas, Charlotte, Cleveland and Atlanta. Ritz-Carlton hotels in New Orleans, Marina del Ray, Cancun and Los Angeles will be moving to Category 3 from Category 2 and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Tokyo, St. Thomas, San Francisco, Grand Cayman and Dubai will be moving to Category 4 from Category 3.
