Alaska Airlines has launched an easy way for customers to buy tickets from any mobile device and the process will be even faster for Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members who log in and have their personal My Account information pre-populated in the checkout process. Flyers can book one-way or roundtrip tickets for up to seven travelers at a time, view a three-day low-fare calendar, select their seat at no additional charge and view optional upgrades with mileage or because of elite-tier status. Flyers can also view an upgrade or standby list from their smartphone. The upgrade and standby lists become available 24 hours before a flight departs, will be hidden six hours after the plane arrives at its destination and are available to all mobile site users who have a reservation. This upgrade list feature is not yet available on Alaska apps, only for mobile devices, but will soon be available through the apps as well.
You can also pay for checked bags, check in and check your flight status with your mobile device. What you can’t do, is book Mileage Plan awards.
You can synchronize your bookings with Alaska’s apps for iPhone, iTouch and Android devices and the mobile site is compatible with any handheld device or seven-inch tablet, including the Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab and Nexus 7.
Alaska also rolled out Flight Status on the Go, which allows customers to text 252752 (ALASKA) for current flight status information, including city pairs, arrival and departure times and gate information. This comes in handy especially for those without a smart phone. For more information about these new offers from Alaska, visit http://www.alaskaair.com/mobile
