During the recent Milepoint.com conversation with Suzanne Rubin, President American AAdvantage, she announced that AAdvantage members would soon be able to book award travel online at AA.com for Qantas flights, and sure enough, the option is now available. And per American’s policy, members can place a five-day hold on the award reservations–a definite benefit for AAdvantage members. Members currently can book partner flights online on Alaska Airlines, British Airways and Hawaiian Airlines.
She also mentioned that members will soon have more options to redeem miles for partner airlines who are not part of oneworld. During the online chat, AAdvantage posted several polls to get members’ feedback. One poll asked, “What additional mileage redemption opportunities would you like to see?” Twelve percent chose, “Using miles to purchase merchandise/retail products,” while 42 percent chose, “Using miles for products and services not available as elite benefits (i.e. inflight food and beverages, inflight WiFi)” and 45 percent chose, “(For non-Platinum, non-Executive Platinum) Using miles to purchase Preferred Seats or the upcoming Main Cabin Extra seating product.”
Regarding new redemption options, Suzanne said, “Our goal is to continue introducing additional redemption options that you all value most–so be on the lookout!” To read the full conversation with Suzanne, visit http://milepoint.com/forums/pages/events
