SPG has announced the details of their summer promotion, Nice Choice. With this promotion, members can choose when, what and how they will earn rewards. Registration is required at http://www.spg.com/nicechoice by June 30, 2012.

Once you register and choose your offer, you can’t change your selection so make your choice carefully. The first thing to choose are the dates from three options: May 1 — July 31, June 1 — Aug. 31 or July 1 — Sept. 30, 2012.

Next is what you’ll earn. There are 11 different options for earning. If you want to earn bonus points, you can choose from double points starting with your second stay (no maximum), 3,000 bonus points after staying six nights (up to 9,000 points) or earn triple points on all stays when you stay 15 nights or more (no maximum) and 500 points per night when staying in Sheraton Hotels & Resorts and booking online.

For members who prefer free nights and redemptions awards, you can choose to earn one free weekend night (Category 1-5) after staying 10 nights, up to two free nights. Or you can stay 20 nights and get a 25 percent discount on an award stay (maximum of two awards).

Merchandise discounts are also available. Stay four nights and get a $50 SPG award certificate (maximum of three certificates). Or you can choose to get a $50 discount code for Westin at Home Collection or Sheraton at Home after staying four nights. Members can earn a maximum of three codes.

And finally, members can select elite night credit. Stay five nights and earn one bonus elite qualifying night (up to three bonus nights) or stay 10 nights and earn three bonus elite qualifying nights (up to six bonus nights).

Bottom line: The most difficult part of this promotion will be deciding which offer to choose. To help you decide, SPG has a short quiz on their website to help you identify your earning and spending patterns and make a suggestion for the best offer for you. You’ll also need to determine approximately how many nights you’ll complete during your chosen timeframe. If you only expect to stay a few nights, then double points after your second stay may be your best bet. According to the registration page, the most popular offer is triple points on all stays after staying 15 nights.
