When Malev Hungarian Airlines ceased operations last month, loyal Duna Club members who had earned elite status in the program were left without any airline perks. In an attempt to pick up some of the frequent flyers Duna Club left behind, airberlin topbonus, Finnair Plus and JAL Mileage Bank will match the status of former Duna Club members.
Former Duna Club members can apply for a status match with airberlin through May 31, 2012 at www.insideflyer.com/link/?6097. The airline will match elite status for four months and to retain Silver status for a year, members will need to earn 6,500 topbonus status miles or fly eight times with airberlin or NIKI within four months. To retain Gold status for a year, members will need to earn 13,000 topbonus status miles within four months. With airberlin’s official entry into oneworld as of March 20 this year, topbonus elite members will receive benefits across oneworld airlines as well.
To receive elite benefits on Finnair, Duna Club members must register with Finnair Plus and fly at least once on a Finnair-marketed flight by May 31, 2012 on an eligible fare and send a email of their boarding pass and Duna Club card to [email protected] by June 30, 2012. JAL Mileage Bank is offering a status match to Duna Club members who register with Mileage Bank and fly on a Japan Airlines-marketed flight by Dec. 31, 2012 on an eligible fare. Contact JMB Europe by Dec. 31 with your Duna Club membership number and JAL flight information. For more information, visit http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?6107
