Lufthansa First Class

Over four days I flew about 23,000 miles-first class-from Los Angeles to Seattle to Frankfurt to Bangkok and returned via Frankfurt and Denver. I’ve heard good reviews of the Lufthansa soft product, and definitely wanted to experience the unique first class terminal in Frankfurt, so cashed in only 145,000 miles and paid $93.40 in taxes for what turned out to be one of the best travel experiences of my life. I literally redeemed miles just to experience Lufthansa first class, including the famed Frankfurt first class terminal and first class Lounge. I had the time of my life on this trip.

While Lufthansa isn’t ranked quite as high as many of the Asian carriers in terms of inflight service, I had incredible crews on all of my flights and couldn’t have asked for more.

I waited at the Red Carpet Club at LAX before boarding my first flight to Seattle. From Seattle, I flew to Frankfurt and took the S-Bahn into the city. It was a beautiful day in Frankfurt and I visited Romerberg Square and ate some wiener schnitzel before heading back to the airport.

I went to the Lufthansa first class terminal and took a nap in the sleep room, then took a private bath. They discourage taking pictures of the lounge but I was able to take a few discreetly.

From Frankfurt, I flew to Bangkok and visited the Thai first class lounge, an award winning lounge where I settled into my own section which is like a mini living room. I took a shower and had dinner of Thai-style pork chops before returning to Frankfurt and the first class lounge again. I then returned to Los Angeles with a connection in Denver.

To me, flying is the ultimate escape filled with joy and peace.
