Effective Aug. 1, 2011, general Aeroplan members will no longer earn the 500-mile minimum on Air Canada and Star Alliance flights. The minimum mileage will be dropping to 250 miles on flights up to 249 miles in distance and members will earn actual miles flown on longer flights. The new policy will apply to all general members while Air Canada Super Elite, Elite and Prestige members will be exempt and will still earn 500 minimum miles. Also, customers travelling on Rapidair flights between Toronto and Montreal or Ottawa, or between Toronto City and Montreal will continue to earn a minimum of 500 miles.
