There was much speculation among United and Continental flyers about whether the new United would retain the first class cabin on its international flights. The answer is yes, although the routes and number of aircraft that will have a three class configuration have not been identified. Continental planes only have business and coach seats while 57 of United’s aircraft have a first class cabin. In an interview with Bloomberg about whether United would keep a three-class cabin on some flights, CEO Jeff Smisek said, “There are certain markets in which that makes a lot of sense and there are others where it doesn’t.”
