For some time now, there has been a rumor floating around that American AAdvantage will end its current policy of allowing any earned mile, be it from AAdvantage eShopping or using a co-branded credit card, to count toward million miler status. Recently the rumor mill has gone into overdrive; it looks as though changes could very well be on the way.

When asked if the policy will change, the president of AAdvantage, Maya Leibman, had this to say on milepoint.com, “What I can say is that if we decide to make changes to the program, we commit to clearly communicate to our members and provide as much advance notice as possible.” She continued by saying, “If we did make any changes to Million Miler, the miles you’ve earned so far will still count.”
