Starwood Hotels & Resorts plans to add more than 150 spas in its hotels in 2011. “Spas are no longer considered an amenity; guests expect them,” said Mia Kyricos, director of global spa brands and programming. “And they’re no longer viewed as an indulgence, but an essential part of the balance and wellness guests seek while on the road.”
Forty-five percent of Starwood hotels currently have spas and 75 percent have plans to add them. In particular, Starwood will ramp up spa construction at its Sheraton, St. Regis and Le Meridien hotels.
Starwood Preferred Guest members can sometimes access the spas as an Instant Reward when checking in, depending on the policy of the hotel.
