Continental announced its new Million Miler program and members can now view their lifetime flight mile balance on their account. Members who have earned one million miles or more will receive elite status for life for themselves and their spouse. Continental will calculate the total number of Elite Qualification Miles (EQMs) each member has earned since the introduction of OnePass, including flight miles that were earned prior to the introduction of EQMs. Miles earned by OnePass members who participated in the original Continental Travel Bank program or the Eastern Airlines Frequent Flight Bonus program will also be included in the total qualifying lifetime flight miles. Bonus, purchased and other non-flight miles will not be included in the total.
Members who reach a million lifetime flight miles will receive Silver elite status for life. Those who earn two million miles will never fall below Gold Elite level and members who earn four million miles will always enjoy the benefits of Platinum Elite. Million milers at all three levels can offer elite status to their spouse or significant other residing at the same address and the companion will receive the same elite level designation, upgrades, mileage bonuses and other elite benefits as the member.
Continental will begin mailing million miler packages to qualifying members beginning in early August 2008. Members who have reached a million miler level will receive an elite card with their new million miler designation and a personalized luggage tag.
After hearing the news of Continental’s latest elite perk, one FlyerTalk member lamented, “Boy, now I regret having credited those years flying NW to WorldPerks instead of OnePass.”
