Politicians are drawing fire again for their use of frequent flyer miles. This time in Australia, where it has been reported that the nation’s federal politicians are letting frequent flyer miles earned on official flights go to waste and not spending the miles to get free flights for official business flights. Or, are spending the miles for personal travel. When asked about the miles, “Information about the actual expenditure is not available to the minister,” a government spokesperson said. “Actual expenditure is not made available to the Australian government by the airlines.” He said it was the responsibility of MPs to comply with the guidelines.
