SkyTeam has announced that the first SkyTeam branded airport lounge will open at London’s Heathrow airport starting this fall and will be fully opened by spring 2009. The multi-level co-branded lounge will occupy a space of nearly 5,000 square feet and accommodate approximately 325 seats. The first floor will open this fall and will be available to alliance passengers traveling through Heathrow, including customers of SkyTeam associate airlines serving the airport (currently Kenya Airways). The second floor will open in spring 2009. Amenities will include a wellness center, including showers and therapeutic service offerings such as massages and manicures. Additional features include free wireless Internet access throughout the space. Customers will also enjoy food options that reflect the national and regional specialties of the member airlines with a monthly menu featuring local dishes from a SkyTeam member carrier’s home market.
