Air Canada Aeroplan members now have access to Blue Cross customized travel insurance packages: trip cancellation (including the costs of Aeroplan’s change or cancellation fees), interruption, medical, baggage and accidental death insurance coverage. An annual policy package is also available and the insurance covers all flights, not just those using Aeroplan miles. As of this month, when members redeem a flight award online, they will be prompted to select and purchase a Blue Cross travel insurance package. Members can also call (800) 361-5373 to ask to be connected to the Blue Cross call center.

Other news from Aeroplan, according to the Toronto Star, includes chief executive officer Montie Brewer saying that the airline’s strategy of encouraging passengers to pay more for full Aeroplan points among other extras is working because 45 percent of passengers are opting for the more expensive tickets.
