Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open its first Italian property in Milan in December 2008. The W Milan will be located in the Brera district near restaurants, art galleries, retail shops and cafes. The 76-room hotel will occupy a converted mid-20th century building and will feature eight W suites, one Extreme Wow Suite, a restaurant, a destination rooftop bar, the W Living Room and a spa and fitness center.
Continental Airlines is increasing the frequency of its flights from New York to Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland from May 4 to Oct. 28, 2007. Continental also plans a new route from New York to Mumbai (Bombay), India starting Oct. 30, 2007, pending government approval.
Southwest Airlines is adding at least 37 new Boeing 737s this year and they “anticipate seven to eight percent capacity growth in 2007,” says Gary Kelly, the Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Airlines. The additional aircraft will allow the airline to add new nonstop flights and expand service in cities such as Denver, Oakland, Orlando and Houston Hobby. Frequent flyers will now have new destinations and more options for Rapid Rewards credit redemption. Beginning June 4, 2007, Southwest will add daily nonstop service between Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Providence and Houston Hobby and San Diego. On June 17, 2007, the airline will begin five new daily nonstop flights between Oakland and Denver and on Aug. 4, 2007, one new daily nonstop roundtrip between Baltimore/Washington and Oklahoma City.
