Emirates is welcoming children to their flights with a bag of onboard goodies to help make flying fun. The star of the goodie bag is a soft toy exclusive to Emirates called a Querk. The Querk is a stuffed animal that features one of five costumes: Salaam the Lion, Yorkie the Eagle, Sydney the Koala, Paris the Rabbit or Delhi the Elephant, each designed to reflect an Emirates’ destination. The Querk will be presented to babies and toddlers as an age-appropriate glove puppet. Dr. Seuss paperbacks will also be featured in the goodie bags as well as an e-kids magazine, games, coloring pencils and a child-size eye shade to facilitate onboard napping. In addition to the new toys, mealtime will be a treat with a special children’s menu. Children will also have their own seatback entertainment options and specially-designed kid-sized headsets, available in bright colors. Mothers with infants will receive a toiletry kit with wet wipes, cream, bib, teething ring and tissue pack.
Emirates not only welcomes children on flights, the airline also offers a kid-friendly program within their frequent flyer program. The Skysurfers program is for children between two and 16 years who fly Emirates or SriLankan. Children earn and redeem miles just like adults and can even earn elite status. Their very own dedicated Web site, www.skysurfers.com, features downloadable desktop wallpaper and Skysurfers screen savers, extensive program information and “day in the life” bios of an Emirate pilot, cabin crew member, airport services officer and more.
