The Denver Post has reported that United will be charging additional Mileage Plus fees beginning this fall.

The new booking fees will take effect on Oct. 16. A new fee of $75 will be charged for using miles to book travel fewer than 7 days in advance. Members will incur a fee of $50 if they book fewer than 14 days in advance.

The number of miles needed for domestic roundtrip economy seats using a standard award will increase from 40,000 to 50,000 miles.
