Diners Club has made some changes to its acclaimed Club Rewards program, as we reported last month. Opinions on the changes vary, but one thing seems to remain constant — Club Rewards continues to put good offers on the table.
From now until May 31, Club Rewards members can save 20 percent on award travel with America West Airlines. Diners members will save 10,000 points when they transfer 40,000 points to their FlightFund account for a first-class roundtrip long-haul award ticket, and can save 5,000 points when transferring 20,000 points to obtain a roundtrip coach long-haul award ticket. (Flights that are longer than 750 miles one-way are considered long-haul flights.)
Here comes the complicated part: to transfer points, call Club Rewards at (800) 234-4034 and request that 40,000 points be transferred for a first-class ticket while mentioning item number 0976, or request that 20,000 points be transferred for a coach ticket, and mention item number 0977. After the points are transferred, contact the America West Airlines FlightFund Service Center at (800) 247-5691 and request ticketing.
Club Rewards points can be transferred to your FlightFund account but may not be returned to your Club Rewards account. The deadline for transferring points is May 31, and travel must be completed by Aug. 31. Points must be transferred in exact increments of 40,000 or 20,000 points. As always, award seats are subject to availability, and blackout dates apply.
