British Airways has been reviewing its Executive Club program worldwide, in an effort to make the program “more consistent globally and simpler for both staff and customers to use and understand.”
Part of that process, apparently involves making a few sacrifices. One of the first changes to be announced is the closure of the Executive Club in the South West Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific).
This decision is based on the strength of Qantas’ Frequent Flyer program in the region and BA’s close working relationship with the airline.
Starting on June 16, members will have the opportunity to join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program free of charge.
Members who have no Executive Club Miles in their account will be asked to pay a joining fee of A$82.50.
British Airways’ frequent flyers in the South West Pacific will continue to receive product updates and details of promotions through the Qantas program.
