Dec. 31 marked the end of American AAdvantage’s ShareAAMiles program, at least for a while.

As we reported back in November, the program allowed AAdvantage members to transfer as many as 60,000 miles per year to other members’ accounts. Naturally, there was a fee involved, $50 to $150, depending on the size of the transfer.

AAdvantage tells us they’re examining the results, and if the program worked as expected, we might see it again before too long. The lesson: hang on to your AAdvantage miles for now — you may well have the opportunity to transfer them again.
