Last month we reported that Air Canada Aeroplan lounge access benefits were being dealt a severe blow.
Well, less than a month later Air Canada has put a “limited” number of Maple Leaf Club memberships on sale for $375 a year. The passes allow cardholders to use more than 55 Air Canada, United Airlines and Lufthansa airport lounges on days of travel.
As reported by The Globe and Mail, Air Canada spokeswoman Laura Cooke said the move was made at the request of basic Aeroplan members who don’t travel frequently enough to qualify for regular lounge privileges. According to Cooke, the number of new memberships will be tightly controlled to keep the lounges from becoming overcrowded.
