While you were out scarfing down enchiladas and sangria on May 5, a milestone in the industry passed. FlyerTalk, the world’s largest online community for frequent flyers, turned five years old.
The Web site, started in 1998 by Randy Petersen, is a part of the WebFlyer Network. It features discussions and chat boards that cover the most up-to-date traveler information. The FlyerTalk forums are open for business 24 hours, seven days a week.
Since its inception five years ago, FlyerTalk has grown to a total of 1.7 million posts — a current average of 3,200 posts per day. It’s viewed nearly nine million times per month and boasts 575,000 unique monthly users.
Earlier this year, PC Magazine pegged FlyerTalk one of the top travel Web sites in the world.
