Eva Air Evergreen Club is increasing the number of elite-qualifying sectors members can earn in qualifying fare classes through Dec. 31, 2011. Passengers in Premium Laurel Class and business class will earn two sectors (from 1.5) on EVA Air/UNI Air International flights and Elite and economy class will earn 1.5 sectors (from 1). Passengers in the following fare classes will not earn any qualifying segment credits: R, H, G, D, W, I and U.
Evergreen Club is also shortening its mileage expiration policy to three years. For example, miles earned in January 2010 will expire on Jan. 31, 2013. Miles earned in 2008 and 2009 will expire in four years at the end of the month in which they were earned. Miles earned in 2006 will expire on June 30, 2011 and miles earned in 2007 will expire on Dec. 31, 2011. If you have some miles you need to use before they expire, consider redeeming them for an economy class award between Taiwan and Hong Kong/Macau for 27,500 miles (normally 35,000 miles) for travel through Dec. 31, 2010.
Also changing as of Jan. 1, 2011, are the earning rates on some economy fares. B class will only earn 80 percent of miles flown (from 85 percent), X class will earn 50 percent (from 80 percent) and U class will no longer earn miles (from 70 percent).
A few award routes will require more miles. An award in Super Business/Premium Laurel Class between Asia and North America, Europe or Oceania will now be 150,000 miles (from 135,000 miles) and 200,000 miles (from 180,000 miles) during peak travel periods.
