As part of Hawaiian Airlines’ revamping of the airlines’ Web site, there is now a Trip Planner for those looking for an innovative way to customize their travel. The Trip Planner offers four ways to plan your trip: Browse, Trip Theme, Virtual Concierge and Dream Trips. The tools are available not only for Hawaiian cities, but also for several gateway cities in the U.S. such as Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas.
When choosing Browse, you simply input where you’re going, when and for how many days, and the online tool will help you plan your vacation. You can choose from lots of activities, some free and some with a price tag. The tool will estimate the time needed for your picks and will even suggest reading material based on your choices with the option to buy through amazon.com (alas, you do not get miles for these purchases). The site will then build your itinerary for you, broken down by day. The Browse tool is packed with other information such as nearby restaurants, transportation and even if there are restrooms available. You can edit your itinerary, rearrange your activities, add trip notes, view a map and group activities by location, print maps, e-mail itinerary to friends and family and share your trip experiences with other travelers. The Trip Theme tool plans a vacation around your lifestyle, Family Time, Action/Adventure or Romance. There are over 20 themes from which to choose. The Virtual Concierge tool creates a tailor-made vacation based on what you tell it about yourself. Dream Trips offers sample vacations from fellow travelers or those recommended by Hawaiian’s panel of experts. Trip Planner also offers destination guides. All in all, a fun, useful tool for travelers.
