    COMMENTS
    Drury Hotels traces its family-owned roots all the way back to the 1940’s, and of all things, a plastering business. In 1973, the Drury family experimented with a new concept, the limited-service hotel.

    The first Drury Inn opened in Sikeston, Mo., with a rate of $10.88. Guests found they received quality accommodations at prices 25-30 percent below full-service competitors.

    Today the company owns 100 properties in 17 states.

    Gold Key Club is as tidy and basic as the hotels it represents. With free nights beginning at 6,000 points, and an average stay netting about 600 points, members can begin cashing in for free nights after about nine or ten stays — about average for the industry.
