Carnival Cruise lines is now offering WiFi@Sea, a faster and more reliable Internet service on North American ships with sailings to the Caribbean. The new service is a “smart hybrid” that automatically switches between satellite data and land-based antennas depending on which offers faster service for passengers. The new technology was piloted for over a year, and due to popular demand and positive feedback, Carnival has decided to begin the next phase of implementation. Carnival plans to bring WiFi@Sea to cruise ships in Alaska by the summer of 2015 and throughout the rest of the fleet in 2015 and 2016. The service will eventually be available on all nine of Carnival’s global brands as well.
