Air France and KLM have introduced in-flight WiFi on one of their Boeing 777-300 aircraft in partnership with Panasonic Avionics. The WiFi access is free for those who wish to access destination information, news, weather, access to the Air France and KLM mobile sites, links to a feedback questionnaire, airline information, inflight shopping promotions and a car rental link. The paid WiFi service, which allows Internet access, is 10.95 euros for one hour or 19.95 euros for the entire flight.
Bottom line: We first reported a WiFi trial for Air France and KLM in our July 2013 issue, but with a different provider. Air France/KLM says this connectivity pilot will last for nine months and then the decision will be made by the two airlines as to proceeding with inflight WiFi.
