Around the World with Oneworld
We began our journey on an AA flight from Boston to Chicago in first class before continuing on to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific business class. We stayed at the InterContinental on Salisbury Road in Hong Kong, which was a fabulous hotel in a great location.
We then flew Cathay Pacific business class to Cairns where we were connecting to Sydney on Qantas.
After our time in Sydney, we boarded a Qantas flight to Singapore, and then flew Cathay Pacific to Colombo, Sri Lanka, continuing on to Male on SriLankan Airlines.
Upon arrival in Male, we were met by a Conrad Maldives representative and taken to the Trans Maldivian Airways counter. The flight took less than an hour and was very scenic.
The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is a really beautiful resort. Even though the resort was at capacity, I never felt that there were a lot of people around.
We flew China Southern from Male to Colombo and then to Madrid via Amman and Istanbul. We stayed at the Hotel De Las Letras on the Gran Via in Madrid. We only spent one night in Madrid and then returned to Boston on US Airways for a couple of months. In early February, we resumed our trip and flew back to Madrid in US Airways Envoy Suite.
We stayed at the Westin Palace Madrid, right across the street from the Prado. From Madrid, we flew to Buenos Aires on Iberia and stayed at the Park Hyatt in Recoleta. The hotel sent us a bottle of sparkling wine and some fabulous chocolate confections in honor of our anniversary. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel.
We flew on Aerolineas Argentinas to Iguazu Falls where we stayed at the Sheraton Iguazu Resort and Spa. In Mendoza, we stayed at the Park Hyatt. We returned to Boston via Buenos Aires, Lima and JFK. This was really a fabulous, eye-opening trip, but I was glad to be home.
