Manually checking in for your flight online or at the airport may become unnecessary for British Airways travelers. The airline is testing a new trial service that will allow passengers to be automatically checked in to their flight 24 hours before departure. The automated system will assign them a seat and send them a boarding pass electronically. The trial will initially include select passengers departing from airports in France but will be expanded to include additional groups of travelers next year. If all goes well, the optional service will become available to all British Airways travelers by the end of 2013. Passengers will eventually be able to save their seat preferences and will also be able to change their seat once it is assigned.
