It may soon cost more to redeem miles for a roundtrip, nonstop domestic flight within the U.S. With most U.S.-based airlines, members who book award tickets for domestic flights are only required to pay the September 11th Security Fee and all other fees and taxes are included. Currently, the security fee on a one-way, nonstop ticket is $2.50 but the Senate recently approved an increase to $5 for one-way nonstop flights and $10 for roundtrip flights. Passengers who have one or more connections would continue to pay $5 each way for the security fee. The increase needs approval from the House before it can proceed.
