Continental’s iPhone (iPad and iPod Touch) users can now download a free Continental Airlines app. App users can book flights, including award travel, check flight status, and monitor a selected flight and receive automatic updates sent to your device. When you check in for a flight through the app, the boarding pass is sent to your email address and is also quickly available through the app. The app also features flight status information such as the upgrade priority list, seat map, in-flight amenities including a DirecTV schedule, and your departure gate. Zoomable airport maps, locations of the President’s Clubs in the various airports, a currency converter, and like the American Airlines app, Suduko at your fingertips are also available. The app also includes Continental’s latest postings on Twitter. Continental will soon offer an app for the Android with other smartphone options being researched. You can download the app from the App Store on your device or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore
Bottom line: As soon as we signed in with our Continental OnePass number we were greeted with our mileage balance and elite status at the top of the screen. The reservations that we’d made that day and expected to see reflected in the app did not show up until we input the confirmation number for the flight. Overall, a nice little app for an airline that will soon be merged into another. United Airlines currently does not have a similar app for the airline (there is only an Optathlon Games app from United).
