The number of metasearch flight search engines available online is proliferating and Fly.com from Travelzoo is one of the latest to launch. We spoke with Brian Clark, SVP and GM of Search Products, about the many features of Fly.com. Clark said that visitors to the site can find “the best fares the most often” at Fly.com. After typing in an originating and destination city, travel dates, number of travelers and whether you prefer nonstop flights, Fly.com will display the results of your search in less than a minute. You can also choose to view results from Hotwire, CheapOair and Priceline in separate windows. Fly.com will show the lowest available fare from all airlines in a summary display view. You can also choose to view specific flights in the List view or a Matrix view that will show the lowest fares by airline and number of stops.
The initial search will display all available flights, including coach, premium coach, business and first class seats. Site users can then filter results by airline, cabin type, price and layover duration, among other options. Frequent flyers can choose to view only those flights offered by airlines in SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld.
We asked Clark whether they were planning on adding any features for loyalty program members and he said they are definitely looking into it. There are technical hurdles to overcome, but given the popularity of loyalty programs, both award travel and upgrades are avenues they are looking into.
