While the attention has been put on major airline mergers, we look for second tier airline mergers to become part of the news shortly. Isn’t fuel just as expensive, or more so, for AirTran, Frontier and Spirit? And if it weren’t for Southwest recently borrowing $600 million, we’d be inclined to believe that they should acquire US Airways to build out what ATA did not live long enough for Southwest to tap in to — international routes and technology.
