Southwest was the first airline to enter the blogosphere with its “Nuts about Southwest” blog which was launched two years ago. Delta launched its “Under the Wing” in August last year and now American Airlines is joining the blog bandwagon. Without fanfare or even a press release, the airline quietly launched “AA Conversation” using blogger software on April 11, 2008. The Dallas Morning News “Airline Biz” blog quotes AA spokesman Billy Sanez as saying the new blog is a “work in progress.” The airline wanted to create a blog quickly to address customer concerns about the airline’s recent MD-80 cancellations. The blog isn’t linked to aa.com yet and Sanez said “We’ll post positive and creative criticism because we want to hear from people and that’s the way that social media plays out.” To view the blog or to subscribe via email, go to http://aaconversation.blogspot.com
