Southwest Airlines has announced it has begun selling “ATA-only service” to select destinations, and members of Southwest Rapid Rewards are able to earn credit in Southwest’s program for ATA flights. Southwest will sell ATA-only service between the following cities: Washington National and Chicago Midway, Dallas/Fort Worth International and Chicago Midway, Honolulu and Las Vegas, Honolulu and Los Angeles, Honolulu and Oakland, Honolulu and Ontario (Calif.), Honolulu and Phoenix, Houston Hobby and La Guardia, Chicago Midway and La Guardia, Hilo and Oakland, Los Angeles and Maui, Oakland and Maui, and Phoenix and Maui. Rapid Rewards members booking and traveling within the continental U.S. will earn one credit for each one-way trip. Members traveling to Hawaii on ATA will receive two credits for each one-way trip. Members flying to international destination like Mexico or the Caribbean (which will be sold only by ATA) will receive two credits for each one-way trip. Travelers who choose to purchase travel through ATA will have the option of earning credits in Rapid Rewards or earning points in the ATA Travel Awards program…

United Airlines and TACA GROUP have filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation a codeshare agreement expanding international destination options and frequent flyer opportunities for members. TACA serves 35 cities in 19 countries in the Americas, with hub operations in San Salvador, El Salvador; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Lima, Peru. On approval, United Mileage Plus members will be able to earn miles to places never-before served in Central and South America…

Delta Air Lines and Scenic Airlines have launched a partnership that will give SkyMiles members the chance to earn miles while exploring the Grand Canyon and other sites in the Southwestern United States. The agreement allows SkyMiles members to earn up to 6,000 miles for qualifying aerial tours with the Las Vegas-based sightseeing company.
