Adieu, Web bonuses. It’s been fun. Effective April 1, some Alaska Mileage Plan bonuses for online purchases and online check-in are changing. Online purchases, which used to net 5,000 miles for a first-time user, are dropping to 4,000 miles for first-timers. And electronic check-in, which used to net 500 miles each time, now earns a one-time, first-time bonus of 1,000 miles.
The net result, of course, is slightly fewer miles for the Internet-savvy traveler. Don’t cry too much over a few lost miles, though. Alaska was, after all, the first U.S. carrier to even offer online ticketing, and all signs point to more innovations on the horizon. Stay tuned.
