Over the past 10 years, SAS EuroBonus has become one of the most decorated and highly regarded programs in the world. Now, in celebration of its 10-year anniversary, the program is offering some stellar promotions for its members. Here’s hoping you have plenty of points to take advantage of these once-in-a-decade offers.
10K Instant Offer
If you’re a fan of spontaneity, this promotion will suit your tastes. On random Tuesdays (and only on Tuesdays) EuroBonus will publish a special route to/from Scandinavia on its Web site that can be booked for just 10,000 points. Here’s the catch — EuroBonus members must book on the day the route is published to take advantage. The adventurous and economy-minded should visit http:www.scandinavian.net/eb10/jubileum/offers/10kinstantoffer.htm each Tuesday to see if an offer has been listed.
The Midas Touch
If you have been a EuroBonus Silver member for five consecutive years between April 1992 and March 2002, EuroBonus is giving you the Midas touch and your current Basic or Silver status will be converted to Gold.
Suites for Gold Members at Radisson SAS Hotels
For 15,000 points, Gold members can stay at suites all over Europe. While this offer is only available to Gold members, thanks to the Midas touch, there may be quite a few more Gold members out there to take advantage. The offer includes accommodations for two people in a Radisson SAS suite as well as a Super Breakfast buffet, and is valid on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from July 5 through Aug. 31. When making reservations quote “EB Suite.”

Luxury Vacation
Through Dec. 8, SAS EuroBonus members can book an intercontinental business trip for 10,000 points less than the usual redemption cost. The trip can be for travel from May 6 through Dec. 15 and the offer is available on all routes except for those to or from Bangkok and Singapore. Child awards are also reduced to 50 percent of the adult fare.
Star Adventures
EuroBonus is intent on having the Star Alliance participate in the awards and has a few round-the-world offers.
Members can redeem 170,000 points for the following itinerary — starting in Helsinki: SAS to Copenhagen, SAS to Tokyo, United Airlines to New York, SAS to Copenhagen and on to Helsinki.
For 225,000 points, beginning in Stockholm, members can take SAS to New York, United Airlines to Los Angeles, United Airlines to Honolulu, Air New Zealand to Tokyo, SAS to Copenhagen and SAS to Stockholm.
For 340,000 points, departing Copenhagen, members can fly SAS to Bangkok, All Nippon Airways to Tokyo, Varig to Rio de Janeiro, Varig to Mexico, Mexicana to Los Angeles, Air Canada to Vancouver, Air Canada to London and SAS to Copenhagen.
European Selection
Each month, EuroBonus members will be able to get a 10,000-point discount on a business-class trip between Scandinavia and a select European city. The “city of the month” will be announced live on the Web site on the 10th of each month.
Avis Pitches In
Avis is joining the celebration by offering EuroBonus members a weekend Group A car rental for just 10,000 points — that’s a 50 percent reduction off the normal amount required. The rental includes 250 kilometers within Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and unlimited mileage in other countries. Quote K307000 when making your reservation, but first obtain a voucher for your weekend bonus rental from the EuroBonus service center. The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Scandinavia
EuroBonus also has something for those who would rather stay closer to home, or for those who want to explore Scandinavia. Residents of Finland/Scandinavia can travel within or between the two at reduced point fares. The usual 12,000 point fare for adults has been reduced to 10,000 points and children’s fares have been lowered from 6,000 to 3,000 points. For example, a family of two adults and two children can travel Copenhagen-Bergen-Oslo-Tromso and return with a stopover in each city for a total of 78,000 points — a saving of 30,000 points. These awards are for travel between June 1 and Aug. 31.
Those residing outside of Scandinavia or Finland are privy to a 50 percent point-fare reduction. For example, two adults could travel on the itinerary listed above for 18,000 points. The same dates apply.
With offers like these, you can bet that SAS EuroBonus will continue to satisfy its members and will enjoy many more years of success.
