Rupert Duchesne, chief executive officer of Aimia, Inc., the company behind Aeroplan, has said that the company is in talks with U.S. companies like grocery, gas and financial partners to introduce a broad-based coalition loyalty program in the U.S. sometime in 2014 similar to Aeroplan in Canada and Nectar in the U.K. and Italy. An article in the Vancouver Sun mentions that Duchesne says that previous attempts by competitors at setting up such programs in the U.S. have failed because they were too ambitious. Aimia plans to adopt a more regional approach.
