If you are planning on redeeming your Alaska Mileage Plan miles for a flight to Australia, you might have to rethink your plans. Alaska Mileage Plan members no longer have the option to fly on Alaska’s partner British Airways. As of Aug. 31, 2008, no new award bookings are allowed on British Airways flights to the Land of Oz.
Alaska Airlines has other partners that fly to Australia, namely Cathay Pacific and Qantas, so there are still award options.
Alaska Airlines also discontinued Air France awards to Asia from Aug. 31, 2008. Members can continue to book award travel to Europe and Tahiti on Air France and use other Alaska partner airlines for award travel to Asia.
