InterContinental is planning to develop a $70 million luxury resort in Jordan on the shores of the Dead Sea. When it opens its doors in late 2012, the InterContinental Resort Dead Sea will feature opulent decor in the resort’s 236 rooms, which will include a Presidential Suite, a duplex Royal Suite and several secluded chalets — some with private swimming pools. Guests will be able to enjoy the seclusion of a private beach and beachfront restaurant, swimming pools, a pool bar, all-day dining facilities and a spa. The resort will be able to accommodate groups, meeting and events with an over 9,600 sq. ft. ballroom and state-of-the-art boardrooms. The InterContinental Resort Dead Sea will be the sixth IHG property in Jordan, joining properties in Amman, Aqaba and Wadi Mousa.
